
Fraudsters contact unsuspecting victims with love and attention or seeking long-term relationship. However, it is an opportunity to swindle you of your hard-earned money. They do it through email, social media, dating websites and apps. It appears a little strange that people fall for such but these fraudsters take a lot of time to build the relationships online and make them seem very real.
The Bank of Ghana issuing a public notice on “money doubling”, “card loading” and “credit card loading systems” is a welcoming news. Finally some good news to save people from being scammed and a warning to “money doublers” and “card loaders”.
The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has received a number of complaints from unsuspecting victims who have been duped by these charlatans. Even though, the Office has been monitoring and investigating some of the complaints, the BoG notice comes as a welcoming news.

On 14th June, 2019 the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) was able to stop a looming danger when it released a press statement, “Loom is a Scam”. Gladly, no one reported to the Office for losing huge sums of money through “Loom”. “Loomers” escaped being scammed even though some were not lucky enough and fell victim to other dubious Ponzi investment scheme.

1. Keep a limited information of your family and yourself, avoid posting pictures of your children that are below the age of 18.
2. Keep your privacy settings on at all times.

The novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) has rattled the very existence of humanity. The world is at a standstill in order to fight the disease. Many countries in response to the spread of COVID-19 introduced lockdown restrictions. The lockdown brought many challenges; schools closed, churches closed, social gatherings discouraged, markets closed, movement curtailed. The transition from normal life to lockdown was difficult; people had to adjust their lives for instance to incorporate virtual schooling, trading online, banking online and having conferences online among others.
